What is tsTON? Liquid staking on TON explained

When you stake TON through Tonstakers you receive tsTON, a token that represents your share of the staking pool. This is liquid staking: your stake keeps earning, but instead of being locked away it sits in your wallet as a token you can see, move and turn back into TON.

How tsTON gains value

The pool lends the staked TON to validators. Every round, about every 18 hours, validators earn rewards and the pool adds them to its balance. The number of tsTON in circulation does not change, so each tsTON is now backed by a little more TON. If 1 tsTON is worth 1.16 TON today, it is worth slightly more after the next round. That rising rate is your reward — there is nothing to claim.

Why not just lock TON in a pool?

TON has nominator pools too, but they often ask for a larger minimum — from tens to thousands of TON — keep the coins locked for a whole validation cycle and pay out only at its end. Liquid staking starts from 1 TON, keeps your stake in your own wallet as tsTON and lets you leave at any time: instantly when the pool has TON at hand, otherwise at the end of the round.

Is tsTON safe?

tsTON is issued by the Tonstakers smart contracts, the largest liquid staking protocol on TON with more than 130 million TON staked. The contracts are audited, but no code is free of risk. Your tsTON stays in your wallet, protected by your own keys.

Where to see your tsTON

Any TON wallet lists tsTON among your tokens. On Fuji Gift staking you see it converted to TON at the current rate, together with what it earns per day.
